I’m extremely lucky to have had the time to travel across countries and continents on a bicycle. Chasing horizon after horizon, for hundreds of kilometers, to get to places I hardly knew existed. I would often ask myself, “Where next, what next,?” and, “What am I missing?”
I was surprised to find that the moments of pure joy were created from all the little things. What really mattered were the unique times, when all of your senses are stimulated in unison, and fully receptive to your surroundings. The sound of gravel crunching underfoot, the rubber gripping to the tarmac, the majestic bounce while powder riding, the exhilaration of mountain biking next to a glacier, tasting the first mouthful of hot cheese on a balcony of a high mountain hut, visiting a hidden valley only known by the locals, leaving boot tracks in the mud, hiking over a mountain pass, biking endless downhills with your friends...
All of these little things that make me feel the most connected and “in the moment”, I’ve realized are right here in my backyard...in the Alps.
